Sebastião Salgado:
"Global Convulsion"
Showing at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art.
June 3 - September 14, 2003
Photojournalist Sebastião Salgado documents the refugee, the displaced person
and the victims and survivors of mass migration - the fallout of what he calls a "global convulsion."
Drawn from a private collection, the exhibition at the Harn Museum of Art reflects the broad themes and urgent issues
that characterize Salgado's socially committed work. More than eighty photographs taken principally in Africa
, Asia, and Latin America chronicle those who Edward Said has called the "undocumented," those who exist outside of
art or political and cultural representation.
Text and photograph from Harn publication.
